Welcome to Ed422!!

Welcome to EDUC422, Technology Tools for Education:-)
It is my hope that everyone will learn many new tech tools while having fun at the same time. I am constantly tinkering with my assignments and trying to add the newest and most relevant technology for this class. As such, there might be times when the assignments or syllabus change a bit. However, I will post a blog entry at least once a week to keep everyone updated on what we are going to learn.

I will also leave a question for everyone to answer in the comments section. This allows me to ensure that everyone is reading the blog and to have fun at the same time.

For our first week, I hope to introduce many of you to the wonders of the Mac computer, webCT6 with its benefits and frustrations, discuss browsers (like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.), the Intro Letter assignment, and other geeky topics.

This week's question: What is your favorite piece of technology & why? At the bottom of this entry you will see a "comments" section underlined. . .click it and leave your comment. Thanks.

I love the pix, you have a beautiful family! My favorite piece of technology is the dishwasher, because I do all the cleaning and dishes in my house.

My favorite piece of technology is Spell Check... love it more often than not, as I am a crap speller, or maybe I just lack certainty.

My favorite piece of technology is actually the record player (a little outdated) because I like to collect vinyl.

Great pic! Reminds me of the numerous snow storms I was in during the break while in Colorado. My favorite pic of technology is the digital camera because I love taking picutres and the digital camera easily handles the many pictures I take.

My favorite piece of technology is definitely my cell phone! I love being able to keep in touch with my family and friends as much as possible. I have a very busy schedule so my phone allows me to touch base with the people that I can't see as much as I'd like!

My favorite piece of technology is the automobile because it made it possible for us to travel long distances in a shorter period of time

I love your family picture, Ours is similar except in Tahoe. As far as technology goes, I love my Mac computers and iPhoto. It's great to have all of my photos conviently organized. The slide show features are also awesome. It provides my kids and I a lot of entertainment. It is fun to see how things change and relive your adventures.

My favorite technology is , as Adrianna, the Automobile. I like this technology for slightly different reason. I believe that not only does the automobile make traveling long distances easier, it also makes it more of a reality for common people to travel and understand each other.
A mental picture of this to me would be the farmer driving his pickup to the city to market and learning how fast paced and hurried life is for the city dweller. And the city dweller with the ability to individually drive his car to the farmer's environment, (the country), and see, and learn to appreciate the pace of life and that bliss and tranquility which comes from that life.

My favorite has got to be the cell phone! I went quite a long time without getting one, but it has proven to be oh so worth it!

I would have to claim my ipod as being one of my favorite pieces of technology. It helps me stay motivated when I am working out or cleaning the house.

My favorite piece of technology would have to be... the cell phone. There are times when I love it and there are times when I hate it but most of the time I love it. I love that we can send text messages and take pictures and video on our phones. Also I have a chip in mine so I can take up to 500 pictures and download them onto my computer! My sister also just had a baby so getting pictures and videos of my nephew on a daily basis are awesome! So yes cell phones are sweet.

I like laptops, and still the best application is email, but I don't know how we got along before the web.

My favorite tech toy is my digital camera because of two things. First it allows me to see the photos right when i take them-in case i need to reshoot, and second instead of pricy film, my memory card is a one time purchase that can hold a ton of photos.

TIVO! It enables you to watch only t.v. you truly want to watch (versus whats on when you have time to watch). It's great for our family because we don't allow t.v. during the week so we TIVO all our shows and watch together on Sunday night.

My favorite piece of technology is my cell phone because it does everything! I can check my email, access the internet, listen to music, and of course I am able to contact someone if something were to go wrong on the freeway(which unfortunately has happened many times).

my favorite piece of technology is is my brothers digital camera, its one of those that are manual as well as automatic. I remember photo in high school where i used my dad's old 35 mm and i couldn't see why my photos came out in certain ways because i didn't remember the details of the photos. (apature and shutter speed) with the digital cameras, you can manually focus and improve your shot. by learning by your mistakes right then and there. its pretty neat. I try and steal if one weekend a month jsut to get better.

My favorite piece of technology is the cell phone. I have to take it everywhere I go. This is the easiest way to keep in touch with my family. When I forget it at home, I feel like if there is a hole in my life.

My favorite piece of technology is the speaker... What happened before speakers?!? How did the world hear music, what would life be like without them? I can't even imagine. I couldn't live without music, and my love for music wouldn't be the same without speakers.

I can say pretty strongly that my cell phone is my favorite piece of technology. It never leaves my side. It is only turned OFF while flying, other than that, it is attached to my hip!!

My favorite technology is the mp3 player. I have an ipod and I find it very convenient because it is a very compact unit that holds up to a thousand songs that can also be used in your car, instead having tons of cds.

My favorite piece of technology is my ipod. I love it, it goes everywhere with me. To the gym, school, when I walk my dog, and especially on the air plane

My favorite piece of technology is my Palmtreo. I love it because I have my day planner, pictures of my kids, and my phone with me everywhere I go. What else could I need! Ha Ha

My favorite piece of technology would probably have to be the digital camera (although my cell phone is a close second). I could not imagine going back to the old wind up, look-through-the-microscopic-hole cameras. It is great being able to take more than 24 pictures at a time, and to see and print them instantly. Most digital cameras also double as a video camera, which saves lots of time and money!

My favorite piece of technology is the sidekick (even thought I don't have one). I just think it is very creative and convenient to be able to check your email, browse the interent, take pictures, and of course use it as a cell phone all in one device! I call it the swiss army knife of the millenium! =)

My favorite piece of technology is the technology involved in flight. Without the ability to fly, I would have never been able to travel the world, experiencing other cultures in action while learning more about myself in the end.

My favorite technology is my PS2 because I use it to watch movies and play Madden. I'll probably have to upgrade in a year or so when the PS3 come down in price.

Well, cpu-wise, I'd have to say powerpoint and word, cause I have horrible handwriting so they'll help A TON in teaching. In general, I'd have to say the Wii... that thing has got some great potential!

My favorite piece of technology has got to be the automobile...I love to travel and see new places and the automobile allows one to do this at their leisure. Stopping at the visitor center when you first enter a new state, perusing through the brochures to see what might tickle your fancy and then getting back in the car and continuing on with your adventure. There is nothing quite like a road trip. =)

My favorite piece of technology is my Ipod. I love the fact that I can listen to so many different types of music without having to change CDs. This also helps with the safety of my driving. The Griffin Itrip is great too.

My favorite piece of technology is the cell phone. I am one of those annoying people who are always on my phone. Because my family is so far away, I enjoy the ability to talk to them very easily. My cell phone is always with me...I don't know how people functioned before them!!!

My favorite piece of technology is my digital camera and Photoshop. I don't get those horrid photos back from Savon drug store where my eyes are half closed, and I look drunk. Then with my Photoshop I can crop, rotate, or even change my hair color.

The internet connection helps, but while surfing the net, it's very accomidating when multitasking or wanting to find a solution quickly. Since, i've had my new computer, i'm online and researching any answer i may need on a daily basis.
