As we begin week three, I want to spend a good bit of time today to ensure that everyone understands the assignments so far and help anyone who may be falling behind. I hope everyone took my advice and refused to stress over the assignments until I returned today. . .for those Type A personalities. . .well. . .
Monday we will take another look at Yahoo Bookmarks, Blogg(ing), and EdTechProfile. I will also discuss scanning and the required scan for Wed, when we begin the newsletters.
Journal #2: This week's article comes from the most recent issue of ISTE's Learning and Leading with Technology (which we will refer to as L&L). The article is titled, "Breathing Fire into Web 2.0", by Justin Hardman and David Carpenter. If you go to iste.org and look for the publications tab, select Learning and Leading. You should be directed to a page that has the most recent issue displayed. The article I chose is available for a free download if anyone is still waiting on funding ;-)
This week's question: Name one of your favorite teachers and explain why she/he made a difference in your learning.

Weclome back! An influential teacher in my life was my 9th rade Honors English teacher, mrs. Eisworth. Up until this point I had always been a Math and Science gal who hated to write essays. She taught me to appreciate writing and find my hidden skills. She was big on treating every student as an equal, no matter how proficient a writeer they were and it gave us all a sense of confidence.
One of my favorite teachers is Mrs. Ewing. She was my P.E. teacher and soccer coach in High School. She is really caring about her students. I thank her for many hours of conversation and understanding my purpose in life.
my favorite teacher was my high school english teacher Mr.P. He was so inspired by music and he really gave us fun creative projects that would connect the books we read and music we heard. I loved him!
My favorite teacher is Prof. Picket. He was my math teacher and he is the one that made the class understandable and enjoyable, I learned to have fun with math, and this is one subject that since elementary school I had a hard time to master it. I still struggle but now I have a new way to think how I can overcome those math problems.
My favorite teacher would have to be my 3rd and 4th grade teacher Mrs. Kinder. She was a great teacher and I really liked the way she taught her students. I remember we would have a math quiz once a week and we would have to remember the times tables because we would only have a certain amount of time to do it. She would also choose people to go to lunch with her. She was not only fun but an inspiration to all of her students.
My favorite teacher by far has to be my Kindergarten teacher. Because after being in her class I realized that I wanted to be a teachere and be just her her!
My favorite teacher is my mom. Now I know that may be cheating, but she has definetly made the biggest difference in my life. She was my teacher and as my teacher made a huge impact inn my life... She taught me never to settle, and I thank her for that every day.
There have been MANY influencial teachers, so it's difficult to pick JUST one... however, I believe Mr. Chitaroff and Mr. Temple, two of my science teachers have influenced me the most. Especially in making difficult subjects easy enough to learn, and ensuring that the experience can be fun and worthwhile every time.
My favorite teacher was Ms. Evans, my 6th grade math teacher. She did so many different activities rather then just notes then math problems, and it made the class so much more interesting. She had an excellent way of motivating her students, and for me it was the start of my liking math classes.
As chilche as this sounds, my father has been my favorite teacher of the past. Being a teacher himself, he taught me so much at a young age that I was able to have an advantage in learning over a lot of my elementary peers. He is my instpiration to become a teacher myself! When I was little he was teaching guitar and went to school to receive a masters in reading. He currently teaches at Reedley College (in the central valley of California) and is still inspiring me to become the best teacher I can.
My favorite teacher has to be Professor Dutton. He taught GEW 101 which was my first class here at CSUSM. He was such an amazing teacher, he was always supportive and helping with everything, I felt that I left that class with a better understanding of writing. He is an awesome teacher!
My favorite teacher is someone who helped to bring me back to school after many years and realize that it is possible to accomplish something once thought impossible. Mr. Bonds is due much credit for inspiring me to continue with my dream of teaching Junior High Algebra with confidence.
An influential teacher that I had was Mrs. Evans, my sixth grade math and science teacher. She always had a fun way of teaching lessons and she made the students excited to learn. Another one of my most influential teachers was Mr. Homan, my eighth grade P.E. teacher. He really had an interest in each and every student and made physical education fun.
I have many favorite teachers. I don't know if I can name a specific one but I can try to describe why I liked them. They have been interested in me as a person. With that they were able to help me with my education. They treated me with respect and were able to gain my trust and respect as well. They were committed to teaching and put their heart into their students. They were themselves and were willing to talk to me openly and willing to admit their own humility. Thus I was comfortable to approach them when I had problems or weaknesses. Of course most teachers that are my favorite were ones that saw and focused on my strengths and encouraged me how to use those strengths to help my weaknesses.
I cannot really say any one teacher has been my favorite, but my elementary school teachers have always had a huge impact on my life. They really encouarged a growing young girl like myself to just be myself. I feel like they cultivated a confidence in myself to let my personality come out. Who knows where I would be if I wasn't blessed with amazing teachers.
My favorite influential teacher is my 9th grade ESL teacher because she was very good at teaching ESL. she thought me Ingles in an easy way, format, and technique. she always offer after school help for those who had trouble with homework or understanding a subject from class. She is and she will always be my most influential teacher.

i've had many wonderful teachers throughout ym educational career. My teacher was Mrs. George and she was my 6th grade english and history teacher. She gave me confinence in myself and my potential as a student. She was the first teacher to acknowledge my abilities and pushed me to acheive more. She showed me that labels mean little and its all about the effort you put into the material that takes you where you want to go.
For sure I must mention Mr. Leon Piere Baradat, political science professor at Mira Costa College (now retired). He "will forget more about political science than any of us will ever learn" (his words). Needless to say, he knew his stuff. Furthermore, I feel I had his classes at a great age: old enough to filter what was just his opinion, but still young enough to be enthused by his enthusiasm. A recipient of the states teacher of the year award, he was still humble but passionate. Definitly one to remember!
My favorite most influential teacher would have to be Ms. Hunt. She was my middle school science teacher and an awesome person. I remember her for her honesty and kindness. She always had time to listen thoughtfully, and her words helped ease the stress of adolescence.
My 1st grade teacher, Ms. Dolby, was one of my favorite teachers. She had the coolest toys, like giant (1st grader sized) Tinkertoys and let us throw little rubber erasers at kids when they were sleeping.
M favorite teacher was my junior year english teacher. His name was Mr. Culpepper. He was the wrestling coach and a former marine. Even though he was strict at times, he really cared about his students and their learning. He was one of those teachers that you would want to go back and visit. He was strong as well as emoitional ( :-) ) I learned a lot about disipline and he helped me to enjoy english.
I've had many "favorite" teachers in my life. It's difficult to choose one because teachers have all been very supportive of me and in general I like the kind of people that become teachers. But the one that gave me confidence at a critical time in my life was my 4th grade teacher. I wish I could remember how she did it, but in fourth grade I began to think of myself as intelligent and discovered that school was fun and interesting. I hope all kids get that kind of reinforcement at a young age.
My favorite teacher would have to be my 3rd and 4th grade teacher. Her name is Ms. Hune. She is a strong black women who went out of her way so put confidence in me and have me be proud to a black person.
One of my favorite teachers was my Calculus teacher from high school. I never liked math, and for the most part I still don't, but she taught me that if I worked hard enough I could succeed at anything... even calculus. She didn't accept failure from her students, and if she saw the you were struggling she would make time before class, after class, or during lunch to work with you. Plus, as difficult as it may have been, she always tried to make calculus class fun and interesting.
One of my favorite teachers is Dr. Katherine Brown in the Comm department here at Cal State. She is the smartest human being I have ever run into, and she can relate all information to past, present, and future. She takes time to explain, answers questions thoroughly, and never makes you feel stupid. She is one of the most "challenging" professors in such that her projects are difficult, but you really learn stuff about real life.
One of my favorite teachers was my 9th grade history teacher. She is one of my favorite teachers because she made history very interesting and exciting. She would act out of alot of the history which made it much more entertainng and easier to remember.
My very favorite teacher was Ms. Graham. I had her for 7th grade English and 10th grade American Lit. The theme of all her courses was "question authority!" Her classes were honors courses and she allowed us a lot of latitude in participating in our educations. She and I became friends later in life when our kids were in the same school. I was so sad when she died of cancer a few years ago, but I was glad that I had the opportunity to tell her how much she meant to me and how important she was in helping me be a life-long learner.
My favorite teacher was Mr. G in high school. He was a football coach and a History teacher. All the students couldn't help but love him because he made an effort to be connected everyone.
One of my favorite teachers is my 9th grade Spanish teacher, Senora Meyer-Corle. The reason I consider her one of my favorites is because she took an interest in not only my learning, but also my life. She always took time to help those who were having trouble in class, but even though I always did well, she did not overlook me, but commended me and encouraged me to keep up the good work. She "made learning fun" and made me feel like an important person.
One of my favorite teachers was a History profesor I had at Palomar. He knew his stuff but also presented the information in a comprehensible and fun manner. Not only did he install information but he installed the desire to learn more history. During his lectures it was common to laugh out loud. He pulled some pretty outrageous stunts. He also could get serious when talking about dark areas of history. Plus he wore a bowtie. Style points.
The most impactible teacher I can remember would be my P.E./Baseball coach/Family friend. It sounds like an easy path but he actually didn't ever give me any slack. This gave me a chance to actually prove my self as a friend/student, or baseball player.
My favorite teacher was my middle school history and homeroom teacher. I had just moved from California to Georgia and he made an effort to make sure I becoming involved in the school and took the time to introduce me to people. I was pretty shy at first because I was in culture shock and I don't think I would have made some of the friends I did had he not introduced me to them.
One of my favorie teachers was Mr. Mitchenson in 10th grade. He was my history teacher. I hated history but he made it fun. He was from England and he always had the funniest stories to tell us.
One of my favorite teachers was Professor Johnson. He was my history teacher at Palomar College. He made history fun! He used to come to class with his guitar and teach history through song. I always looked forward to going to class and thought singing was such a creative way to teach!
Iv'e actually had two really great teachers in my life. The first one was my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Wangler. He was a tall, deep voiced man in which everyone talked about how mean he was. At first I was scared but it turned out to be the greatest school year. We had so much fun and everyone respected him so we accomplished so much more during class time. He was my first male teacher and I'll never forget him and I still talk about him to this day. My other favorite teacher would be someone I met while attending college, Professor Jocelyn Alhers. I would have never thought of Linguitics as being a passion of mine, but her teaching made me change. On top of my depth of study being Linguitics, I am also now minoring in Lingustics as well.
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Miller. She was my 3rd grade teacher and at a young age inspired me to be a teacher. She was caring to me and all of her other students and always encouraged us to make something of ourselves. Even in middle school and high school she checked up on me to make sure i was staying on track.
Mr. Trin, my 11th grade math teacher, really inspired me into becoming a teacher. He taught in very creative and "easy to do" ways and also maintained patience with his students the entire time. I have recently been able to tell Mr. Trin about the impact he had on my life, which for me was very special.
My favorite teacher was my second grade teacher Ms. Fountain. She had a lot of energy and was the most creative person I have ever met in my life. I worked in her classroom all throughout elementary and middle school. She also taught my younger brother and sister. She was in charge of all vocal performance at our school and played a large role in that facet of my life. She is an amazing person and even after 35 years of teaching... still loves every day in the classroom like it was her first!
My favorite teacher is Mr. Guzman. He was my math teacher when I attended 8th grade, in Mexico. He made me like the subject. He made math look appealing and fun, instead of being just all plain mathematics with a bunch of numbers. His humor made his classes enjoyable.
My favorite influential teacher is my 9th grade ESL teacher because she was very good at teaching ESL. she thought me Ingles in an easy way, format, and technique. she always offer after school help for those who had trouble with homework or understanding a subject from class. She is and she will always be my most influential teacher.
My favorite teacher was my second grade teacher Mrs. Portter. she took me under her wing and planted the seed to teach me to love to read. She always went that extra mile for me. What a creative teacher. I always brought her apples.
A grade school teacher that first comes to mind is my 5th grade teacher. His name, I can't remember at this moment. I'll probably remember later while cooking dinner or something, but what I remember about him is our study of African civil rights. We made a class film where some of us were slaves and others purchased us. We also visited a segregated school in SD. We each had an friend for the day. Learning was easy and fun. 30 years later, I still remember his class.
The teacher that influenced me the most was my 8th grade Math/Science teacher Sister Mary (Catholic School(:-). Between my half way point of 7th grade I realize that I was not getting the concept of PreAlgebra. Once I entered 8th grade she taught me the concept of memorizing formulas. Once I was able to do that, she taught me how to "Plug and Chug." Each math problem I did. I was able to write a formula then apply my numbers and follow through step by step, and even work backwards to prove my work. I still remember her up to this day, and I am hoping that I too, can apply that simple concept of formulas, and I hope my students can say "That's so easy!"
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Linda Dudik, she is a History teacher at Palomar College. I admire her because her dedication and effort to teach history. I have a better understand of the present. History is the clue.
My favorite teacher was one of my Spanish professors, Martha Evans. She is an incredible woman. She expects nothing but your best, and makes you work for it. But she is willing to work with you as long as your are willing to work. She makes you feel that you can accomplish anything. Martha is also an incredible role model, she is an eight year cancer survivor with 30+ children, who has continued to work through everything and still be involved with her students.
One of my favorite teachers was my fourth grade teacher Ms. Dueber. She was such a creative teacher and because of her creativity I remembered a lot of the fun activities we did.
I have two favorite teachers and both of them are from my junior college (MSJC). The first one is Ricki Muller who I had for three semesters! After having her for Eng 101, I chose her again for Eng 103 & 106. She is such a great teacher. She's nice, funny, and it was just fun being in her classes. The second teacher is Professor Lei. He was my Eng 98 instructor and the first teacher that gave me confidence in writting. I had been out of high school for 20 years (when I went back to school), and I had his class my first semester. He told me that my writting was great and he asked me to work with another student who was having trouble writting her papers because she was Hispanic and had a little trouble with word order. I was floored! He gave me the confidence I needed to know that I could accomplish my goal of becoming a Special Education teacher.
I would say one of my favorite teachers was my 7th grade Language Arts teacher, Mrs. DeMamiel. She loved cows and pinned pictures of cows all over the classroom. Plus, she always had a great sense of humor about everything. I never really saw her angry at her students and she always kept her composure even if a student went out of line. Most of all, she acknowledged her students by giving them personal awards such as the Positive Attitude award, etc.
I don't have a favorite teacher, but I've had some really good ones. I like teachers who challenge me to think, and listen to my thoughts and ideas.
My most memorable teacher was my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Hennen. She would always stay in at lunch or after class to help everyone who needed extra tutoring, or just to talk. She would take time out of her day just to help one of her students find their stuffed animal or special eraser. Her sensitivity towards her kids impacted me immensely, even as a second grader. I hope that I can be the same way with my class!
My favorite teacher was my junior high biology teacher Mr. Kelley. He made things interesting and it obviously worked because now I want to be a biology teacher as well. I remember when we did a protest against the malathion spraying that was happening in our town.
My Favorite Teacher would have to be my junior high special ed study skills teacher, Mr. Konugres. He was a great inspiration to me and he encouraged me to pursue a career in education. To this day, he is a good friend and it helps to have friends in life.
My favorite teacher, Mr.Bryant, means a lot to me because in high school, when I was having a tough time, he made me push myself through it. I think all kids need to feel like someone believes in them, so that they can believe in themselves.
My most influencial teacher was my thrid grade teacher in Mexico. She was the kind of teacher that everyone loved. She was kind and patient with everyone. She told me that I could be anything I set my mind to. She is my inspiration to become a teacher.
My favorite teacher is Ricki Muller. She was my english professor at MSJC. I had been out of school for quite awhile and was insecure with my writing abilities. She instilled me with a sense of confidence and when ever I have doubt in my abilities I think back on her encouraging words.
My favorite taacher would have to be Mrs. Fowler m asl teacher because I always had fun in her class
One of my favorite teachers is Mr. Shafer from 11th grade Ap chemistry/Ap physics class. He was very motivated and during that time, I was still taking ESL classes and he was learning Spanish. So he helped me a lot trying to undestand the subject and to do well in his classes. He really made me feel capable to succeed and willing to go to college to study science.
I can't remember her name for some reason but I promise she really is my favorite teacher so far. She tought my senior year of high school English class. She was so hilarious and would make sure we were enjoying our last year of HS. Though she may not have prepared us for college as much as she could have, since we never wrote papers or worked too extensive, she made that year fun.
Most influential teachers were my two high school wrestling coaches. They never gave up on me and saw my potential not only in athletics but in life. And I was a real flake back then too.
My favorite teacher was my 9th grade history teacher. He always incorperated class into a star trek eppisode. He also did alot of debateing in the class. I know that we don't retain a lot of facts from school (R U smarter then a 5th grader)But when you engage the students they will remember more like I have many years latter.
I dont have a favorite teacher, but there are many teachers who have been very influent in my life starting with my parents, my sister, teachers from school who have helped me so much. I am very fortunate to have all these people around me who always motivate me.
My favorite teacher would have to be Mr Herzig. He was really good at getting everyone involved. He asked us a lot of good questions that linked brought a good discussion that linked the content to current events. He taught world history sophmore year. He had a great passion for the subjects we were learning, and made the class fun .
