As we begin week 6, I want to reinforce a few things. . .I am constantly in search of new and interesting ideas or technologies that will ehance your classroom and your future use of technology. As such, I frequently make little, or sometimes big, changes to the assignment. For this reason, the most important thing to me as an instructor is that you COME TO CLASS!! I cannot help you if you are not here; I cannot help you if you are not listening when I am teaching; I double-don't like having to go over the same assignment instructions twice w/o a good reason. Since I allow multiple submissions of the assignments, I would like to believe that your resubmissions are due to refining an assignment that was not quite right, not because you didn't listen or chose not to come to class. . . . there, I have officially lowered my blood pressure a few points;-)
This week: Monday we will work on perfecting your PowerPoint assignments and rubrics with the expectation that we can show/grade them on Wednesday! I'm sure we can finish the majority of both Monday. . .with minimal work on your own. Make sure you ask me or a peer in class if there is something you don't understand. . .and if that doesn't work. . .read the instructions.
Journal 5: This is an optional journal that is worth 2 pts of extra credit. You have the option of finding any article you like that relates to technology and education or you can use the article in the Cool Links section on cyberbullying. I read it yesterday in Parade Magazine!
This week's question: What is your learning style and how does it affect the way you learn? What? Don't know your learning style? Click on the Learning style link and take the test! Or search Google for another type of Free learning styles test/inventory.

I am defiantly a kinesthetic learner. I learn best by getting my hands wet. I am able to visually learn, but I have to take notes and read them a few times over.
I am by-far a visual learner. If I don't see how to do something then I most likely won't understand it. Listening to lectures usually do little to help me understand anything, unless there is a least a power-point or something for me to look at.
I am a mix between a kinesthetic learner and a visual learner. Oral directions go in and right back out without any consideration. Science has alwyas been my favorite and best subject because being in the lab I learn by leaps and bounds!
I am a visual learner for the most part. When someone's explaining something to me I view the picture in my head. It's really wierd because I'll be taking a test or something and can actually see my notes in front of me sometimes. I can't always see what's on them but I can see my notebook. It's crazy!
i am a combo visual/ auditory/kinesthetic learner. I have to see, touch and hear in order to maximize my retention of the material. In the university setting I am most used to lectures and at home studying of the material.
I actually just took a quiz in another class of mine to figure out my learning style and it is visual. I need to see something to be able to make sense of it. If something is being taught to me, watching it be done is the best way for me to remember and learn the process.
I would say I am mainly a visual learner. I like looking at examples and seeing how things work. Like Taresa mentioned, I too can flash to a mental image of my notebook, a page/example in a text, or an index card I had earlier studied when I am taking an exam. I do like to reinforce the concepts I learn through a more hands-on, kinesthetic approach though.
I'm definately a visual/example learner... as once I see it, I can generally move with it. However, I am also creative, and love being given a direction and watching where I and others go wth it.
Accordign to the style test, i am a solitary. i prefer doing thigs by myself and alone. I also learn by following directions, but once again alone without help or interuptions.
I took the test and it says that I am a visual and physical learner. I scored relatively highly on the others as well. The only one that I am weak on is the verbal learning. It makes sense to me. I am very visual and then it is solidified in my head when I actually go through the actions.
I am a visual learner and I like the idea that if I see it I can learn it. I like the idea that of power point lectures.

Um I can't say that I agree with these results 100%, the graph at the end was a good visual aid. I like to think of myself as a little bit of everything.
Apparently, I am a visual learner. I believe this is an accurate assesment as I have always been a "gotta see it, touch it, take it apart and put it together" kind of learner. It has affected me as a learner in good and bad ways. For the good: USUALLY, if I see something done, do it myself, drive a route, etc, I have then "got it". For the bad: I've not been so good in a lecture only learning environment, as a lecture progresses I will invariably develop images in my minds-eye to help myself out in the learniong process, this then leads to daydreaming, and then detentions (as a youth it did, I should say).
I am a combo kinesthetic/visual learner. I have to be constantly moving (kne shaking up and down, pencil moving rapidly between my fingers) to have information sink in. I do the same thing Teresa does - I can see my notes in my head or the notes on the whiteboard that the teacher has written when I am in the middle of an exam.
I learn visually and also through kinesthetics. I need to see things and hold then. I like to take notes and sometimes that is the only way I can learn. I like to learn through study guides, writing and looking up the answers help me to remember things.
I am a mix of auditory and kinesthetic. I like to do things by working with my hands. I also enjoy instructions being read to me as I am working with whatever assignment.
I am both a kinesthetic learner and a social learner. I love to 'do' things while I am learning. I can't just sit there and listen with out writing/taking notes in class. And I like to socialize and discuss what I have learned to get a sense of assurance and new ideas or views of what others have learned.
I am a visual and auditory learner. I can listen to a teacher and take notes and do well in a class.

I think that this test is pretty accurate of my learning style. I definitely like to solve problems or issues logically. I also agree with the aural learning style because I am musically inclined, and I find it very difficult to study/learn without hearing music and sound.
Personally I'm a visual learner (computers, math, science). It doesn't affect my performance or understanding of information in other classes but I will excell in different areas of school because of this.
I feel that I am a very visual learning, but I feel that I learn different things in different ways depending on what it is I am learning. I like to learn things hands on! I took the test to see which area I scored highest in and it was really even as I expected. I scored about the same for each category, but higher in solitary and logic.
I am physical/visual learner. I definately do well when the learning enviornment is hands on. This can make it difficult when it comes to lecture classes.
I am a very visual learner, no doubt about that. I need things literally spelled out for me. I need a point blank picture in front of me. Im not very good at the whole lecture thing unless, there are notes, slides, or a powerpoint to keep me following along. As long as it explained well enough and drawn out, I can do anything really.

I am alone a lot when I study and it is hard for me to focus alone
I am definetely a visual learner. I can picture words, and definitions that I read/studied and recall it on a test remembering even the page area it was on. Plus, visual aids in the classroom assist in my learning of a certain subject
I just took an assessment on my style of learning and found it very informative. I scored the highest in the solitary and logical styles. I like mapping my strategies out and definitely love working with numbers. I like learning in an independent/introspective manner. I can usually remember ideas easily if I link them to a bigger part or reference them to similar ideas. I scored the lowest in the physical aspects of learning.
According to the quiz, I am a very visual learner, but I already knew that. Being a visual learner works really well within our educational system since there is almost always a way to read for information. As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate the many learning styles there are though, and I think we all benefit from trying to use our learning processes that are not as strong. I try to remember more of what I hear without writing it down when I have a chance (sort of like using an eyepatch to make the other eye stronger).
The test says that I am a social learner. I think this is true, but also think that I am a visual and kinesthetic learner. I love having the radio on and being around others while learning. I picture things in my head and also like a hands-on approach.
I am a social and verbal learner. I do like to work things out and figure if I can get a chance to discuss something with someone, I can usually get my point accross. I suppose it goes both ways since one should be in a social situation if they are being verbal and not only do I get my point across but others may get their point across as well.
I am a visual learner. I like to look at examples and prefere to see illustrations. I doodle alot when I am thinking or listening. When I was a little girl, I colored pictures while watching TV. Later when I looked through my coloring book, I could remember what I was watching on TV.
I am a visual learner I like to "see it" then do it... I love examples because they are a helpful guide. I like to touch it see it and really know what "it" is
I feel that I am more of a physical learner. When I am learning something new I like to be testing the waters and practicing as I go other wise I find it very difficult.
I am an Aural lerner. I use sound, rhyme, and music in my learning. I am also a visual learner. I find it funny that I am very far from being a logical lerner. Typical girl!
I am a visual learner. I do better with taking notes off of powerpoints and looking at maps and other things to get the facts straight. I am also a kinesthetic learner. If I do something once or twice I will remember how to do it again later.
I am a visual learner for the most part, as long as i can see something i'll understand it.
I am defintley a mix between a kinesthetic learner and a visual learner. I need to see what I am supposed to learn as well as write it down when it is time for me to study the material. Sometimes I end up writing the material several times over before it's really in my brain.
I think I am a visual learner for the most part. I have to be able to connect a concept to an image to be able to truly understand and retain it. In fact, there have been many times when I have taken a test and I have actually been able to answer a question by visualizing my notes or a page from my textbook. I think that definitely shows that I am a visual learner.
I am a verbal/social/solitary learner which is a little ironic because they are opposites. It does explain my learning style though, because sometimes I need to talk things out and hear them verbally, but then I need to work by myself to get the job done. Interesting survey!
My main learning style is social and then physical. Visual and locial were close behind. I think this is why I do well in a school setting. When I was a child I think it would have been a disadvantage for me to be homeschooled. It really reflects how much I like to work with others, and it helps me learn in the process.
I'm logical and somewhat verbal. Interesting, next I'm equally solitary and social. Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde... ;-)
I am a verbal and a social learner. I usually get a lot out of readings and lectures, but I can't stand it when teachers lecture for the entire class period without giving us a chance to reflect, talk to our classmates, and ask questions. I need a second to process the information before I head to my next class. Otherwise its just a blur.
I am a visual and kinesthetic learner. If I see what is being taught I understand it better and if its hands on I am experiencing it and I will remember it.
I am a visual and social learner. I have to see things either by demonstration or have guidelines for me to follow. When teachers just straight lecture I space out. I don't gain much learning from listening to someone else lecture but from discussion amongst my teacher and peers
I am such a hands on learner. You can tell me how to do something all day and all night, but until I get the chance to do it myself, I will learn nothing.
Also, I am very visual and spacial. But I only remember pictures, I cannot visuallly remember words. It works great because I never get lost and always know where I am when I am driving!
According to learning-styles-online.com, I am a social learner. This site is pretty accurate, although I was surprised that I scored higher on the aural than verbal. I am not a visual learner at all, but I already knew that.
According to the test my learning style is: solitary/visual/logical. Being a solitary learner affects my learning by making me more independent, but at the same time, I need to be more social and ask peers for help. Being a visual learner affects my learning by making it easier to understand concepts by looking at diagrams and pictures. Finally, being a logical learner affects my learning by making it easy for me to solve math problems, accounting stuff, and explaining step by step a task.
I think that I have a combination of visual, social, and verbal learner. I have to see something being written or created in order to understand it. I also like to work with people and as I'm sure my fellow students for ICP can attest to I LOVE TO GAB!
I am A Visual learner all teh way. If I can see it I can understand it. Notes don't mean anything without a picture, movie, or something i can relate it to. So when I have to read, I visualize a story or the experience.
After taking the learning test, I realized that I use all types of learning styles. The styles I use the least are Verbal and Solitary. I work better with others, yet I also enjoy alone time. I am an aural learner at most, and music is a very essential part of my life. I feel that I am a leader and have no problem being put in charge, but I also enjoy learning from others.
I am a Kinesthetic learner. Its easier for me to remember what i learn if I do a hands on; however i am also a visual learner because sometimes I also learn by seeing.
I am a social, physical learner. I learn best when I put my hands on things and work them out myself. I also enjoy talking with others to better understand the subject
